Dignity in Asylum (DIAS)

People seeking asylum are often highly qualified, college educated and courageous human beings who risked their lives to stand up for democracy, human rights and gender equality. Many of them are journalists, politicians seeking democratic change, gay rights activists and true humanitarians. Many have been persecuted because of their sexual orientation, their peaceful political activities or their courage to speak up against injustice.

 

Please. Help us offer a safe haven for some of the many amazing human beings fleeing persecution.

 

DIAS Wishlist

 

Apartments and self-contained housing units

 

We are in great need of self-contained apartments. An apartment with a kitchen, bathroom and own entrance is ideal for our guests. Ideally, the apartment would be close to public transportation.

• 1-, 2- or 3-bedroom apartments, separate in-law units or carriage houses in Concord or Acton for low rent or free

• Studio or 1-bedroom apartments for low rent to help transition guests into independence

 

Regular monthly donations

 

At the moment, it costs us approximately $600 to house and maintain one guest for one month. If…

• 20 people give $30 a month

• 30 people give $20 a month

• 40 people give $15 a month,

we can guarantee free and safe housing to one guest every month!

Volunteer opportunities for our guests

 

If you can offer internships or volunteer opportunities at a business, library, or non-profit organization, it would give our guests not only valuable structure to their daily lives but also connections and insights into American work culture.

Do you know some people who might be interested in getting involved or learning more? Please consider hosting a gathering! We would love to come talk with a group and spread the word about DIAS.
